Western Norway Road Trip, 2019
We started our trip visiting my husband's aunt in Sweden, then flew to Bergen, drove around Hardangerfjord and Songfjord.
We made a quick stop in Sweden to celebrate Midsummer.
We flew to Bergen, and started our road trip there.
We chose to hike unknown trails (for example, we skipped the Trolltunga). The pictures above are from near Øystese, at the Hardangerfjord (the main fjord we drove around).
We camped all the way through the trip. This forest was not the most pleasant to camp at: it was too wet so we had to dry our tent and sleeping bags for hours using the car heater. We continued to drive near the fjord, stopped at Utne, Odda, Kinsarvk, crossed the fjord at Hardangerbrua, and drove towards Songfjord.
The next stop of our trip was the viking village near Guvangen, where we took a quick tour, learning how vikings used to live, and hiked along the Nærøyfjorden.
We drove through Flåm to visit the Borgund Stave Church before crossing the Songfjord and heading up north. The last few stops before heading back to Bergen were Fjærland and the book town nearby.
