Kangerlussuaq: Navy Base, Ice Cap, and Golf.
Kangerlussuaq is a small town in Western Greenland, that used to be a US military base. Now it's a home for the only international airport in Greenland. I'd say unless you're doing The Arctic Circle Trail, 2 days in Kangerlussuaq would be more than enough.
The campsite is located just 200 meters from the airport, it costs 60 kr/person ($8.5). We opted for camping in the wild - a couple kilometers away from the town. Don't forget to bring your own water - the river water isn't drinkable!
We read somewhere about the possibility of playing golf (we're can't really quite say we're golf fans, but playing golf in Greenland, doesn't it sound like an adventure!?). Determined to check it out, we walked for 1.5 miles towards the icecap only to find an abandoned locked building and pieces of artificial grass here and there. No golf for us :(
Kangerlusuuaq has two parts: the airport and the city itself. The main part of town has a church, a mini market and a museum. The museum (70 kr = $10) wasn't impressive: tons of pictures of the US military base and Greenland Airlines planes.

The one and only restaurant in town was amazing though! I still have no idea what brought a Thai chef to Kangerlusuuaq, but his pizza (!) was pretty decent!

Greenland is a home to the second biggest ice cap after Antarctica. The only options available are a five-hour tour (660kr), full day adventure (900kr) and a two-day tour (2000). We did a one-day tour and quite enjoyed it! We saw an arctic fox, a couple of deer, and a crashed airplane.
Isn't it not as white as you'd expect?
