Ilulissat: Icebergs, Huskies, and Large Cameras.
A view from a 3-mile long walk from the airport. With its population of 5000 Ilulissat (gren. Icebergs) is a megapolis by local standards.
We could literally pitch a tent in somebody's backyard... or 10 meters away from the UNESCO World Heritage Site - the breathtaking Icefjord you see on this picture. We ended up camping for 10 days and didn't move our tent a single time. The weather varied from +5 to +15 C°. We were quite lucky since 10 days with no rain is a bit unusual even for July.
The "dog-town" is right on the outskirts of Ilulissat. Lots of cute dogs to pet; they seemed to be pretty friendly.
There are a few trails around of various difficulty: yellow (2.7 km), red (1 km), and blue (7 km). Blue being the hardest and the best for sure.
The track starts with an unimpressive graveyard and ends with enormous icebergs. And by enormous I mean ENORMOUS.
Lots and lots of icebergs!
We took a shower in a local crossfit place (the class was more like an aerobics class but shower was what mattered the most)
Since vegan food wasn't a particular gem of Greenland, we stocked up in a supermarket and cooked out own food. You can buy some gas in an electronic store in town (60 dkr). In addition, there were still a couple of places with vegan food: Kangji coffee shop (wi-fi, decent vegan options), Inuit restaurant, Marmaut, hotel Icefijord (fancy!), Hong Kong restaurant (veggie curry)
